About TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles

We are a cultural engine for 21st-century businesses. We create Disruptive ideas that locate and involve brands in culture, giving them a larger share of the future. We are a full-service marketing and communications agency offering brand strategy, communications planning, search and analytics, digital, social, branding and design, as well as a world-class in-house production studio called Grizzlee. Our partners include Apple, Gatorade, McDonald’s, Intuit Quickbooks, IMAX, Principal, Supercuts, UNIQLO, and more. We are continually growing and evolving in response to fast-moving contemporary culture, the needs of our clients, and a rapidly evolving competitive set.
BORN IN THE WESTAt a time when Madison Avenue was the only place for ad agencies to do business, we opened our doors on the West Coast, and have never looked back. Being on the West Coast has always represented a pioneering and optimistic outlook, and now allows us to connect with the tech culture that stretches from LA to SF to Seattle and is influencing the way the world works.
LOCATE AND INVOLVEThis is how we describe our role in working with brands. It’s important for us to understand the purpose each of our brands has in the world, the emotional spaces they occupy in people’s hearts and minds, and how they play a role in their lives. Once we understand where they live, then we think about how we can continue to involve them in contemporary culture.

TBWA\CHIAT\DAY LOS ANGELES ELEVATES KIRSTEN RUTHERFORD TO EXECUTIVE CREATIVE DIRECTOR

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Sept 10, 2021 - TBWA\Chiat\Day Los Angeles today announces the promotion of Kirsten Rutherford to Executive Creative Director, joining the agency’s creative leadership team Renato Fernandez, Chief Creative Officer and Caleb Jensen, Executive Creative Director.

“Kirsten is a combination of fierce talent and cultural leadership with a high bar for creativity. She represents a new breed of talent this industry needs,” said Fernandez. “Not only does she push for creative excellence, she’s a big proponent of creating meaningful culture and has been a major part of our transformation. Kirsten is helping to shape the future of our agency and has already made an incredible impact during her tenure here.”

Rutherford started her TBWA\Chiat\Day LA journey in 2015 where she led creative for brands including Intuit QuickBooks, Southwest Airlines, Viking Cruises and Persil, among others. She also spearheaded Gatorade’s “Sisters in Sweat” campaign, Save Energy LA Campaign for the LA Mayor’s Office as well as work for TrinityKidsCare Hospice and Make-A-Wish Foundation. She had a brief stint at Team One managing global creative for Expedia before rejoining Chiat\Day LA in April 2020.

Throughout her career at Chiat\Day LA, she’s been instrumental in the agency’s growth in talent and in new business. She currently co-leads the agency’s Women’s Affinity Group and most recently was the US Ambassador Judge for the 2021 Gerety Awards.

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the creative leadership crew alongside Renato and Caleb,” said Rutherford. “A place that encourages us all to be more human (if in doubt, be more dog) that also recognizes good enough is not good enough when it comes to the work, is a very special place indeed. Being able to build on that kindness and creativity is something I’m so grateful for.”
