Bang TV Directors

Jeremy Haccoun

Jeremy grew up with film. His father owned a video shop and their house had an old 35mm projector in the basement along with a collection of rare prints of classic movies.

He showed early promise as a film maker in his teens with Alchemy, an Indiana Jones-style adventure short, filmed on his parents' driveway.

Later he earned a diploma for cinematography and post production at film school in Paris. His graduation film, The Battery, took the Grand Prize at the Festival des Trés Courts de Paris.

On his short film, Paradox, he wrote, directed and edited it as well as designing and building the sets and doing all the effects work. It has won awards in major festivals in LA, Malibu and Houston as well as being selected for several more. Paradox was the most awarded British short film of 2007.

His first spec commercial, Swatch, won him a place at the Cannes Young Directors and he has since directed spots for Coors, Disney, Heineken, Jupiler and Xbox. His campaign for Oppo Phones stars Leo DiCaprio. And his amazingly complex Subaru interactive film won a Spikes award.
He is in development on a number of feature film projects in LA while finishing his action short, Beyond.

Laszlo is a Hungarian-born Director/DoP. After working initially as a DoP on features, he soon moved into commercials and quickly began directing. His work reflects that cinematic influence in both scale and slick imagery.

He is synonymous with beautifully shot car commercials for all the top marques including Audi, Lexus, Mercedes, Porsche and VW. Unusually though he’s not just about the shiny metal; he’s equally at home with a Russian Arm as with intimate human performances.

Greg Kohs

Ten time Emmy Award winning filmmaker Greg Kohs, has applied his passion for emotional, human storytelling to still photography, commercials and documentaries. His trademark captured not contrived style is very current and runs effortlessly through his work.
Kohs began his career as a sports photographer where his work featured in Sports Illustrated and Sporting News. After a time at NFL Films he successfully transitioned from making Super Bowl films to making award-winning Super Bowl commercials.
His work spans Nike, MasterCard, Apple, Google, EA Sports and Disney. Greg recently released his feature film directorial debut, “Song Sung Blue”. Over ten years in the making, it has won 9 major international awards.

Long before Bridget Jones's Diary Sharon was directing commercials and documentaries. In fact, she was just getting going when her first feature film became one of the biggest box office romantic comedies of all time. Sharon is remarkable in that she's equally well known for her beautifully crafted imagery as for her performance and comedy direction.

She has just finished filming her own adaptation of the best-selling novel INCENDIARY in London and is currently in development on several movie projects in the US and the UK.

Sharon has directed commercials for some of the UK's best agencies: AMV, BBH and DDB on major brands including Bertolli, British Telecom, Camelot, Kellogg’s, Volkswagen and Volvo.

What the critics wrote about Bridget Jones's Diary
"Even funnier and more romantic than Notting Hill ... One of the most genuinely funny romances", Empire

"A film full of wit, warmth and honest knowing humour, topped off with a plethora of excellent performances", Hollywood Reporter

"Frisky fun for bruised romantics regardless of age, sex or nationality", Rolling Stone

"Sharon Maguire treads a fine line between broad comedy and touching romance ...", BBC

Joachim Nielsen

Joachim made the natural comedy progression from speedway racer to journalist to copywriter. In his years in adland he worked at DDB and Likeminded writing some of Denmark’s most awarded creative campaigns.

After working with some of the great Scandiwegian directors he started directing himself in 2002. In a short time he’s won a Cannes Gold, three Eurobest golds, three Epica golds and 19 Danish Advertising Awards. These sit alongside his trophy for the national speedway championship which he won in 1990.

Udayan cut his teeth directing a number of prestigous dramas for BBC TV, working with Britain's top writers.
Simon Gray penned some of his early features including They Never Slept, starring Edward Fox; Femme Fatale, with Simon Callow and Donald Pleasence; and Running Late, starring Peter Bowles which won a Golden Gate Award for Best TV Feature at the San Francisco International Film Festival. He won a second Golden Gate Award and BAFTA nomination for 102 Boulevard Haussmann, starring Alan Bates and scripted by Alan Bennett.
Alan also wrote Talking Heads – Playing Sandwiches which landed Udayan a second BAFTA nomination. His next movie Brothers in Trouble won the Golden Alexander Award for best feature. The hugely acclaimed My Son the Fanatic was selected for Directors' Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival and won the best feature award at the Potsdam Film Festival.
Gabriel & Me, starring Billy Connolly, was followed by a documentary, According To Beryl featuring Dame Beryl Bainbridge.
Starring Matthew Modine and Richard Griffiths OPA! premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. The Yellow Handkerchief, stars William Hurt, Kristen Stewart and Eddie Redmayne and was his US debut and opened at the Sundance Film Festival to critical acclaim.
Udayan’s latest project was to direct the key episodes of The Tunnel for Sky Atlantic and Canal Plus - the Anglo French adaptation of the Danish/Swedish serial The Bridge.
Whenever he can Udayan enjoys the freedom and intensity of directing commercials and brings a wealth of ideas and energy to every production. He has filmed with major global agencies including DDB, JWT, McCanns and Ogilvy.
When not actively involved in production, Udayan teaches directing at several film schools including The National Film & Television School, The London Film School and many around Europe.

Brian Williams

Brian Williams

Brian graduated with flying colours in print, film and TV design from the College of Art and Design in Dublin and never looked back.

It didn’t take long for him to start winning awards for his on-screen and print work for U2. The iconic, multi-award winning ZOOROPA album cover and the ZOO TV tour made his name. In total he won four international awards for his work with the band.

Later as a partner and creative director he grew Dynamo into Ireland’s most respected design consultancies.
